Medford is an ideal location for current and future businesses.  The community is located along the I35 corridor.  It is minutes from Owatonna and Faribault, and within an hour of Rochester, Mankato and the Twin Cities Metro Area.

Medford businesses employ many Medford residents and people who have a very short commute from nearby communities.

According to MNDOT, an average of 33,300 vehicles, traveling I35, pass by Medford daily.  The highest one day traffic count in 2016 was 49,075.  Many of the motorists stop at the Medford Outlet Center, Furniture Mart, Design Homes and Grandpa’s Old Home Meats among several other businesses.

Land is available on either side of the interstate for commercial, industrial and residential development. Some of the available land has utilities onsite, has been zoned, and has had environmental assessments conducted.

Medford is home to diverse businesses ranging from large commercial stores to locally owned main street businesses.  Several industrial businesses are located on the outskirts of the City.

Residents, council members, the EDA embrace economic growth.

The City Council and EDA advocate for and support community businesses.

Medford’s EDA provides gap financing or low interest loan opportunities to current and future businesses.  In addition, the City is connected to several local and state entities that provide financing, technical and mentoring resources to new and existing businesses.

Medford has experienced significant residential growth in the recent past.  People are drawn to Medford’s high quality of life: a modern school building and a great school system have attracted many to the community; a small town feel; ample job opportunities within the community and in nearby communities; beautiful parks; the Straight River and recreational opportunities.
